Judi Ratner is a Congregational Representative for the South District. Prior to the Union for Reform Judaism's restructuring in June 2009, she served the Union for five years as the Regional Director of Youth Programs in the Southwest Council. Judi joined the Union staff in the spring of 2004 after serving on the professional staff of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, TX, as the Youth Director for 18 years. There she created the standard for other congregations by building and maintaining a strong youth culture within congregational life and implemented a dynamic approach to youth programming by incorporating a full congregational systems model. In addition to her work at the Union, Judi earned her Masters in Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in August 2008. A certified mediator, Judi specializes in organizational change, conflict management and executive coaching and serves on the Executive Board of the SMU ADR Alumni Association.
In addition to her work with the Union for Reform Judaism, Judi has served as a trainer to and consultant for residential youth programs, families, organizations and schools pertaining to creating peace in Jewish "homes" through Got a Problem With That? ... Navigating through Life's Obstacles Project. Judi's pilot for this program was recognized by the Texas Psychological Association annual convention in November 2007.
She and her husband Randy (of over 33 years) reside in Dallas, Texas and have two children. She is thrilled over the recent marriage of her eldest, Adam, to Tracey Zimmerman of Buffalo Grove, IL. Her daughter, Jessie, is a second year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Judi is a product of NFTY and URJ Camping (as are her children), who continues to love the outdoors and strives to maintain a youthful outlook on life.
