Early Childhood Education and Young Family Engagement
As Director of Early Childhood Education at the URJ since 2007, Cathy Rolland has provided support to congregations that seek to ensure the early childhood center is a gateway to a lifetime of Jewish engagement for both children and their families. Her work focuses on
Strategic planning by creating partnerships between professionals and lay leaders. This unique collaboration combines the integration of Reform Jewish values with the pursuit of excellence in early childhood classrooms and young family engagement settings.
Cathy is the founding member and inaugural president of the Early Childhood Educators of Reform Judaism, (ECE-RJ). She currently serves as the URJ's liaison to the ECE-RJ, and provides consultations for congregations on early childhood director placement. Before joining the URJ, Cathy spent 11 years as the Early Childhood director at Temple Har Shalom in Warren, NJ. She also served on the adjunct faculty at the Fashion Institute of Technology for ten years, teaching consumer motivation and consulting businesses on meeting the needs of the changing consumer. Cathy is an alumna of the University of Wisconsin and Gratz College.
