Adopted by the General Assembly Union of American Hebrew Congregations October 29-November 2, 1997 Dallas
North American Federation of Temple Brotherhoods
Background "If there has ever been a time for Jewish men to stand together, to be together, to work together as men in making a difference in society and this movement, now is the time." -- Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman, President of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
There is a great need for Jewish institutions to revitalize their content and goals in order to provide transformative opportunities for men to realize their potential, both as human beings and as knowledgeable Jews.
The North American Federation of Temple Brotherhoods has embarked on new directions as it combines its 75-year tradition of service to the Reform movement with meaningful programs to help Jewish men find identity, involvement, and inspiration in their lives through fuller participation in the Temple community.
THEREFORE, the Union of American Hebrew Congregations resolves to commend these new initiatives of the North American Federation of Temple Brotherhoods in bringing greater spiritual involvement and active participation within the men's movement, and pledges to cooperate with and support this effort.
