58th General Assembly November 1985 Los Angeles, California
IN MEMORIAM -- ALEX ODEH
The Union of American Hebrew Congregations at its 58th General Assembly in Los Angeles, California, on November 3, 1985, expresses its revulsion at the death by terrorist bomb of Alex Odeh, West Coast Regional Director of the Arab-American Anti-Defamation Committee. The voice of Alex Odeh, poet and parent, was silenced by unknown assailants last month in Santa Ana, California. The right to speak one's belief without fear is a right cherished by all Americans, which must be preserved. The killers of Alex Odeh, who destroyed a man but threaten our American way of life, must be brought to justice.
Alex Odeh's family, like all of us of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, are descendants of Abraham, our father. We send them , our cousins, our message of condolence at this time of their grief and our mutual loss.
