WHEREAS the Union of American Hebrew Congregations has sponsored and promoted an active and successuful program for temple youth of high school age; and
WHEREAS this successful program has not been followed up by an equally active program in the colleges for Reform Jewish youth; and
WHEREAS the Union of American Hebrew Congregations has created a Department of College Youth, but has been unable adequately to finance and support a broad-based program in this area; and
WHEREAS this vacuum has sometimes been filled by other organizations and movements which have not always considered the needs of Reform Jewish youth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and its constituent congregations undertake as a matter of high priority an expanded and adequately financed program for the benefit and participation of Reform Jewish college-age youth.
BE IT ADDITIONALLY RESOLVED that the Union of American Hebrew Congregations supports and encourages the involvement of young people of college age within their congregations, and asks the congregations to welcome them into full participation in their programs.
