MOBILITY AND BUILDING FUND PLEDGES

50th General Assembly
October 1969
Miami Beach, FL

MOBILITY AND BUILDING FUND PLEDGES

WHEREAS: The every-increasing mobility of many American Jewish families has made necessary the obligation to assume two or more compulsory building fund pledges in a relatively short period of time. This appears to have inhibited the affiliation of many of these families with congregations in their new communities.

THEREFORE, THE 50TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE UAHC RESOLVES:

  1. To urge the UAHC congregations to adopt the practice by which all future capital installments existing at the time of membership termination be waived if the member moves out of the area served by the congregation and applies for membership in a Reform congregation in the new area in which he resides
  2. To urge all UAHC congregations to allow appropriate credit to new members based upon any capital fund payments fulfilled at a prior UAHC congregation during the immediately preceding three years.
