The Governance Task Force was appointed by Peter Weidhorn to take a fresh look at the Union's lay governance structure and to recommend any changes to that structure that the Task Force believed to be appropriate.  The members of the Task Force are listed at the conclusion of this paper.  In preparing these recommendations, the Task Force reviewed a number of different documents and reports relating to the Union's governance structure, reviewed various articles and resources on the general considerations involved in nonprofit organizational governance, had sessions with the Board of Trustees, the Executive Committee and others concerning possible governance proposals, and held a series of meetings to discuss the pertinent issues.  This Report sets out the Task Force's primary conclusions and recommendations most of which have already been presented to the Board and Executive Committee. The remaining work of the Task Force involves reviewing the Union's committee and commission structure and developing recommendations for an appropriate structure for engaging Board members in the work of the Union as it moves forward from here.
