Development/Communications Associate - 6 Points Sports Academy

This is a full-time position based in the Boston, MA area.

Overview

URJ 6 Points Sports Academy seeks a dynamic, experienced and highly motivated individual to serve as Development/Communications Associate in their Boston, Massachusetts office.
The Associate will be responsible to oversee and expand 6 Points Sports online and offline outreach strategies; attract and engage online supporters; execute online fund-raising; support and promote fund-raising efforts; and manage and expand existing and potential constituencies including camp families, grandparents, foundations, corporate sponsors, and annual donors. The associate will also be responsible for overseeing 6 Points Sports web and social presence online, as well as developing print and online marketing materials, annual campaigns, and annual reports. The ideal candidate will possess experience in developing and implementing successful online and offline outreach programs for one or more nonprofit organizations. This position will report directly to the Camp Director.

Qualifications:
•    2+ years of experience in online communications
•    Have prior experience building social media profiles across all platforms including Facebook, Twitter and others
•    Strong written communication skills including the ability to write reports, correspondence and documents
•    Knowledge of all MSOffice applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint);
•    Knowledge of Photoshop and Raisers Edge software a plus
•    Ability to multi-task, juggle competing priorities and delegate to others
•    Prior experience in the field of development
•    A thoughtful and analytical approach to managing complex tasks
•    Ability to work independently and proactively
•    Ability to comfortably and capably speak to individuals and groups, both formally and informally
•    Leadership skills along with a collaborative and collegial work style
•    Experience in identifying fundraising opportunities
•    Personable, outgoing, hospitable
•    A belief in URJ 6 Points Sports Academy’s mission and desire to be part of its growth and success
•    Familiarity with Judaism and Jewish education – a meaningful understanding of Jewish camping is highly desirable
•    At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree
•    Experience working in nonprofit organizations strongly preferred

Responsibilities:
A.    Oversee and Manage All Camp Social Networking Programs and Outreach Efforts: 
a.    Participate in strategizing web content with supervising staff
b.    Maintain calendar of year round social media posts
c.    Coordinate and implement the use of camp social media, including Facebook page, Facebook groups, Twitter account and associated hashtags
d.    Create and/or solicit new content for social media
e.    Monitor all official camp social media outlets, and respond where and when necessary
f.    Coordinate with staff responsible for other camp communication outlets (including blog and email) to ensure consistent voice, tone and messaging
g.    Create content and assist in efforts to ensure uniformity of design and content for the camp blog
h.    Measure the impact of social media programs.  Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of all social media and outreach efforts
B.    Assist in Camp Fundraising Programs:
a.    Coordinate all communications and public relations for the camp’s fundraising efforts, including, but not limited to: Press releases, event publicity, web communication, and more.
b.    Oversee day-to-day administration of all development programs, including the acknowledgement and record-keeping process.
c.    Develops and manages the annual giving campaign, maintain donor lists, and monitor campaign results
d.    Work closely with the Camp Director, managing his participation in development efforts.
C.    Donor Data Management
a.    Oversee management of the Donor Database, making sure all donations are entered and acknowledged properly; over time, will develop a keen understanding of individual and collective donor patterns, and what does & does not work.
b.    Oversee management of the donor acknowledgement process.
c.    Responsible for Data Mining, seeking to learn as much as possible about prospective donors – especially the beginning of our Camp Alumni – for prospecting purposes. Will also seek out foundations, etc., that may have an interest in supporting the camp.
