Development Associate - Eisner and Crane Lake Camps

This position supports both Crane Lake and Eisner Camps and is based in both the winter and summer camp offices.

Be part of a major transformation to further advance Eisner and Crane Lake’s competitive position and ensure their longevity.  The Development Associate will play a major part of a team that has raised over $10 million in the past eight years.   Eisner and Crane Lake are preparing to embark on a $25 million capital campaign to significantly upgrade Camp facilities and create an endowment for scholarships and programming excellence.

Eisner and Crane Lake Camps seek an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking for significant development experience.  Working directly with the Director of Development, the position offers an excellent opportunity to be exposed and participate in all aspects of fundraising.

 

Essential Functions

Annual appeal:  Work closely with Development Director and Advancement Committee • Develop fundraising strategy and calendar • Prepare communications and public relations for the camp’s fundraising efforts • Administration of all development programs, including the acknowledgement and record-keeping process (in consultation with Development Director) • Oversee creation of regular email and letter campaigns  • Results tracking


Data management: Management of the donor and alumni databases, making sure all donations are entered and acknowledged properly (in consultation with Development Director)

Research:  Prepare and research information regarding prospective donors and grant opportunities

 

Donor recognition: Thank you letters  • Tribute cards • Review names for various listings • related event coordination

 

Communication: Pledge reminders

 

Alumni: Central liaison with Alumni chairs •  Organize and prepare alumni events such as scholarship telethon


Additional responsibilities: • Prepare and issue tax receipts • Follow up on actionable items of the Advancement Committee • Participate in Advancement Committee meetings • Oversee the maintenance of the donor recognition board at camp •  Support as necessary various functions pertaining to the Board of Directors


Qualifications:

·         2-3 years experience in field of development

·          Proven administrative abilities in an office environment

·         Familiarity with Reform Judaism, a meaningful understanding of Jewish camping and Reform Judaism is highly desirable

·         Ability to work independently and proactively

·         Ability to write reports, proposals and other general correspondence and documents

·         Ability to establish adequate financial tracking and reporting systems

·         Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge

·         Able to spend time on site at camp during the summer

·         Reports to the Development Director
