URJ Greene Family Camp Assistant Director – Marketing and Communications (Austin, TX)
Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Assistant Director – Marketing and Communications serves as a key advisor to the Greene executive team and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the organization. This Assistant Director is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing communications across multiple print and digital platforms. This includes communicating to current and potential program participants, their families, stakeholders, synagogue leaders, organizational partners, and the general public the activities of the GFC Hub. The position involves residence at Camp throughout the summer. It also includes direct responsibility for the Austin, San Antonio, and Central Texas territory.
Marketing and Communications Develop, maintain and execute the GFC Marketing and Communications calendar Assign content tasks for communications and marketing materials to colleagues and follow up on delivery Oversee the maintenance, coordination and use of camp databases and lists for use in content delivery Plan, write, and design mass and targeted communications, in both digital and print media Develop and produce a wide variety of print marketing collateral for program and events including flyers, fact sheets, and brochures. Coordinating content development with other team members as required. Update and enhance website pages Plan, write and post content to blogs Execute and track social media activity Coordinate projects with outside vendors, including graphic designers and printers Track and analyze performance metrics (web analytics, social media insights) Serve as the summer communications director, planning and implementing strategy for communicating the camp experience to families, alumni, donors and others in community Train, supervise and evaluate seasonal staff, including photographers, videographers, journalists, and all those responsible for interface with camp families and congregations.
Personal Connection Travel throughout the Central Texas region to recruit campers. Retain and coordinate seasonal staff members to participate in various recruiting efforts. Act as the main point of contact with assigned congregations and their clergy and personnel. Conduct a personal and media campaign to attract applicants for staff positions Consistently reach out to and network with the local student populations at our major area universities (UT, A&M, Texas State, etc) in an effort to attract applicants for staff positions. Assist in the process of interviewing and selecting staff. Attend and support camp/hub events as needed, acting as staff member, chaperone, and supervisor in partnership with other members of the staff and leadership team Function as a member of the summer leadership team and assume other responsibilities consistent with personal skill set and interests.
High energy and passion for Greene's mission is essential Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or other related field; or 3 years related experience Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of employees and clients while building long-term relationships Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, website CMS, and email marketing software Tangible experience of having managed complex staff and business relationships. Flexible and adaptable style; willing to engage in all areas of camp Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Greene Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail A professional and resourceful style; the ability to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Able to travel extensively Ability to sit and use a computer for several hours at a time. Sufficiently mobile to get around rustic camp setting which may require use of stairs. Able to carry boxes of up to 30lbs containing non-perishable goods such as office supplies or clothing. Capable of working effectively in a stressful environment. Able to live at camp during the summer season Able to live and work in Austin through the non-summer season
