A New Year's Prayer
Rabbi Eric H. Yoffie, President

Reform Jews are gathering in more than 870 synagogues to experience the power of prayer, of family, and of community. Though we number more than a million and are spread across the continent, we worship as one, affirming the active nearness of God.

I join my prayer to yours in the hope that the dreams we imagine on this day will be with us all year long.

In Your House, Adonai
We are alone no more.
The shofar sounds, our voices stir
Like a great rustling of leaves.
Hear Us! Comfort Us!

In Your House, Adonai
We are strangers no more.
How goodly are your tents, O Jacob
Your dwellings, O Israel.
Heal Us! Comfort Us!

In Your House, Adonai
We are empty no more.
You fill the hollows of our souls,
And lift us into the light.
Heal Us! Comfort Us!

In Your House, Adonai
We are in exile no more.
You return us to Torah,
And teach us the ways of righteousness
Heal Us! Comfort Us!

In Your House, Adonai
We despair no more.
You restore our hope and renew our faith
Blessed are You, O God,
Who hears our prayers.

Amen.
