As you may imagine, we are receiving many calls regarding the unfolding tragedy in and around Kosovo. It is good to know that the people of our Movement are disturbed by what is taking place and are eager to help.

The UAHC itself is not raising funds for the refugees. Both the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the American Jewish World Service (AJWS) are, and we encourage you to send contributions directly to either of these worthy organizations.

Indeed, the situation is so critical that we hope you will reach out to the members of your congregation and urge them to participate generously in this effort. There is no need for us to review the details; they haunt us from our television screens and our daily newspapers. Nor, we imagine, is there any need to make explicit that which is so painfully implicit in the saga, how reminiscent it is of aspects of our own experience during the Kingdom of Night.

At this time, relief agencies are requesting that donations be made in cash; we will let you know if there is need for clothing or other material goods.
