Annette Powers

Public Relations & Communications Manager

Annette PowersAnnette Powers is the Public Relations & Communications Manager for the Union for Reform Judaism. Annette coordinates and manages activities to communicate the messages of the URJ and the Reform Movement to internal (congregational leadership and congregants) and external (media, general public) audiences.

Annette began her career in public relations and communications as a PR Intern for Young Judaea's Year Course Program in 1994. Since then, Annette has been a communications professional at a variety of non-profit organizations and public relations agencies.

Prior to joining the URJ, Annette was on the communications team at The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), where she was responsible for writing and distributing communications to thousands of Jewish communal professionals and lay leaders throughout the Jewish Federation system. Previously, Annette served as Marketing and Communications Manager at The Jewish Museum in New York City.

Annette honed her PR skills at top-notch agencies Ruder Finn and Rogers & Cowan, serving non-profit clients such as the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the Morgan Library, the New York City Opera, the Kennedy Center, Manhattan Theatre Club, New York Philharmonic, and Carnegie Hall. She also worked with such for-profit clients as PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Zurich Financial Services, and General Nutrition Centers (GNC).

Annette has a joint bachelor's degree in English and Theatre from The University of Michigan and a joint master's degree in International Communications and Non-profit Management from American University. She lives in Brooklyn with her son, Noah.
