EARLY CHILDHOOD PARENT EDUCATION
Creating a Jewish Home

The CHAI Early Childhood Parent Education program was developed to help parents rear their children imbued with the love of Torah and the performance of good deeds. In nine complete one and one half hour lessons, the Union for Reform Judaism provides direction for parents of children in the early childhood setting on how to how fill their homes with Jewish observance, celebration and values. Each individual lesson is designed to help parents create a Jewish home and nurture the Jewish identity of their children.

The CHAI Early Childhood Parent Education guide outlines information for the facilitator on how to plan and implement these lessons including: planning outreach and follow-up, setting the mood and emotional environment, structuring the physical environment, determining the size of the group, building trust, being sensitive to diverse family structures, and choosing the right facilitator. This volume also provides suggested reading for further exploration and a Jewish Parent Resource Guide.
