Ensuring Lifelong Synagogue Membership

What can you do to help ensure that the sacred covenant between your synagogue community and its members lasts a lifetime?

Rabbi Yoffie encouraged all Reform congregations to make lifelong synagogue membership a priority at the 68th National Biennial with his Biennial Initiative on Lifelong Synagogue Membership.

Promoting lifelong synagogue membership means creating a congregation where people are deeply connected to one another, to the synagogue, and to Jewish life. This happens when individuals in your community are known, valued and supported throughout their life time. Use these resources to help your synagogue respond sensitively to your members throughout their lives and ensure that lifelong membership is valued in your community.

• Honor longtime members
• Make sure you know your members
• Understand the life cycle of synagogue membership
• Find resources to assist with  membership retention
• Get creative programs to implement at your synagogue
