We hope to further engage our teens by creating fun, 'viral' videos that make them laugh. In doing so, our goal is to encourage them to come to temple and be a part of all of the programs we run. We also use the video creation process as a form of engagement. Most of these videos have had significant input from the teens themselves (most notably the promotional videos that the teens write and star in). Finally, they are a great promotional tool for us. When we post the videos on facebook, both parents and professionals from synagogues around the country, see them and comment on them. It's a great way to let others know what we're doing at Temple Isaiah.
What kind of successes have you achieved in using this technology so far?
After creating these videos, we've found our registration increasing and more teens showing up each week. We've made the youth department accessible by being a part of their online lives - they see us (and these videos) on facebook, they can "like" pages on the teen section of our website, etc. Also, our teens think we are hysterical - a definite added bonus!
