No search results when performing a test search using Custom Search Engine.

Make sure your site is searchable at Google.com.

Google needs to already have your site "indexed" on their servers for your search to work.

To test if your site is being indexed, go to http://google.com and type "site:yourURL keyword" in the search box.

For example, to search rabbi at wct.org (remember to replace wct.org with your domain name when you try it), type this into the google.com search box: site:wct.org rabbi

If there are no results, you will need to register your site with Google at:
http://www.google.com/addurl/

It will probably take several weeks for them to index your site.

These types of scenarios are usually why your site does not show up:

  • you just registered a new domain name in which case Google has not had a chance to index it
  • your domain name isn't so new but there are no links to it from any other website in which case Google never found it
