FTP USING MACROMEDIA DREAMWEAVER
Let's assume your id is "xx003"
One time setup, if you are using Macromedia Dreamweaver version 4.
After your pages are created on your local (PC) Web:
- Select "Site Files"... from "Site" (menu bar)
- You should now see a new window split in half vertically by a border.
- Select "Define Sites" from "Site" (menu bar). Select "New"
- You should now be looking at a window labeled "Site Definition for Unnamed Site 1". Make sure "Local Info" is highlighted from "Category". Enter any name in the box labeled "Site Name:" such as UnionWeb
- Enter the path of where the directory where your website is located on your computer in the box labeled "Local Root Folder" or click on the folder icon to browse and select the directory where the website is located on your local computer. You can leave the rest of options as is
- Now highlight "Remote Info" from "Category". In the drop down box labeled "Access", select "FTP".
- Enter uahc.org in the box labeled "FTP Host:".
- Leave blank in the box labeled "Host Directory:".
- Enter xx003 in the box labeled "Login:"
- Enter your password in the box labeled "Password:"
- Now press OK from "Site Definition" window and press Done from "Define Sites"
To install new or modified web pages Once setup has been accomplished as above, select "Connect" from "Site" (menu bar) from Site Files window. You will then see files on the Union server on the left hand side under "Remote Site" and files on your local computer on the right hand side under "Local Folder". To publish a changed or new page to the server, highlight the file on the Local Folder side and select "Put File(s)" from "Site" (menu bar or click on icon on window toolbar). To download pages from the server, highlight the file on the "Remote Site" side and select "Get File(s)" from "Site" (menu bar or click on icon on window toolbar).
