History of Tzevet Mitzvot: Adult Mitzvah Corps

Partnering with Temple Shalom of Succasunna, NJ and Temple Sinai of Burlington, VT, the first URJ Adult Mitzvah corps took place in Burlington, VT in
2003. In 2004 the Commission on Social Action partnered with the URJ Pacific Southwest Council and Orange County Habitat for Humanity to build a home in Santa Ana, CA. The following year, the Commission on Social Action facilitated the Israel Mitzvah Corps to study social and economic justice issues in Israel, learn what our IMPJ (Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism) congregations are doing in the arena of social action and participate in hands-on volunteer work.
