NY - Director of Youth Programs

Temple Am Echad - The South Shore Reform Congregation is seeking a Director of Youth Programs.

  • This position will require approximately 15 hours a week.  Specific responsibilities but not limited to, will include.
  • Teaching Tuesday nights (included in the 15 hours) in our Chai School (8th – 12th graders) & involvement in lesson planning in collaboration with other faculty and Rabbi
  •  Development and working oversight of entry level youth programs

o    JONESY (6th & 7th Grade) – 4-6 programs per year

o    CLUB 45 (4th & 5th Grade)

o    Club 13 (1st-3rd Grade)

 

  • Direct oversight, community development, and advising of ONESY – High School Youth Group
  • Oversight and coordination of congregational holiday family programs
  • Travel and participation in NFTY-NAR and NFTY North American programs
  •  Management of Youth Group Social Media and Web presence
  • Coordination of Teen led Summer Send-Off Shabbat, Confirmation and High Holiday Family Service.
  • Attendance at Religious School and Youth Committee meetings as scheduled by mutual agreement

 
Competitive candidates will: 

  • Have great interpersonal skills, be creative, energetic and a have sense of humor. 
  • Be well organized, take initiative and have excellent time management. 
  • Have the ability to build a rapport with children and teens as well as being able to converse effectively with the parents. 
  • Have an interest and some experience in working with volunteer organizations, charities and social action projects. 
  • Have familiarity and comfort with Reform Judaism, and the Reform Youth Movement or comparable experience in other Jewish youth movements
