When we last gathered together as a movement 23 months ago, we launched the Campaign for Youth Engagement, a movement-wide commitment to prioritizing youth. Since that time I have traveled across North America and have been inspired by the enthusiasm with which our communities have rallied around this most important cause.
This week in San Diego we'll celebrate all that we have accomplished as a movement to engage the next generation, and we'll lay out the URJ's new plan for youth engagement. Over the past 8 months more than 700 voices throughout our movement have been involved in crafting this comprehensive, integrated, year-round strategy which:
Leverages URJ services/programs to do what no single congregation can do alone
Minimizes barriers to entry including expanding program options and schedules
Launches age-appropriate 6th to 8th grade opportunities
Prioritizes peer to peer engagement and youth leadership
Prioritizes more and better trained adults working with you
Supports local engagement
As we aggressively set plans in motion to achieve our goal of engaging a majority of our youth by 2020 we have partnered with so many of you as well as the leadership of our movement including: ACC, ARZA, CCAR, ECE-RJ, HUC-JIR, MRJ, NATA, NATE, RAC, Reform Day Schools, RYPA, and WRJ.
If you are attending the Biennial, join one or more of these sessions focused on youth engagement:
