Tina Wasserman, Temple Emanu-El, Dallas, TX

I was with Debbie at Limmud in England.

She had fallen and we stayed with her to make sure she was all right. Her sense of humor pervaded our conversation, her love of her people and of her songs were exemplified in her staying up all night to sing with those who felt her presence and her songs were more important than sleep. In my short hour with her she gave so much but I was able to tell her that as a URJ Camp board member I was eternally grateful for the gift she had given my daughter and all campers around the world. Her song, "And the Youth Shall See Visions" is truly the story of her life and the command to all of us to pass down our past so that we can see the future. The angels must be smiling with their new song leader while we will shed a tear at this incredible loss to humanity.
