When my children were young, I was thankful to Debbie for bringing an energy to Jewish song and life and enabling my children to feel comfortable with prayer. I was thankful to her for giving a common voice, a community voice to many Jewish children who lived in small towns without a Temple to run to. They met and they sang and they knew from Debbie God loves song.
I just realized with her passing that I too am thankful for the many melodies and words that inspired me to prayer. I'm thankful for the decades of songs I sang by myself and with my children.
Thank you for being in our lives, in our homes and in our hearts. Your presence will be missed but your voice and music will go on forever, now inspiring my Grandchildren and all future generations.
