Dr. Jeffrey Ross, Congregation Emanu-El, Bellaire, TX

I remember first meeting Debbie Friedman at the age of 16 (1969) at the Leadership institute at Kutz Camp.

Debbie was a songleader along with les Bronstein and Ramie Arian. I remember how talented she was then, and had the priviledge of joining her a a number of occasions here in Houston, particularly at the last Houston Bienniel. She was more than a talent. She breathed Jewish music and the spirit that many of us shared in those youth group retreats and as adults at the camps and in our congregations. She gave so much to the Jewish community and shared her talents with people from all walks of life. We pray now that her spirit is singing and sharing that love for music with all the angels and with God. May her soul be bound up i8n eternal peace.
