GLC Fall Program: Increasing Volunteerisn in the Synagogue

The results of our GLC Chicago Federation Program Survey suggested that the top 3 program requests are:
1. Forging connectedness within your congregation - 95%,
2. Engaging young adults - 94%,
3. Working with and engaging volunteers - 94%

The theme of the Great Lakes Council Chicago Federation Fall Program was “Increasing Volunteerism in the Synagogue”.  It was a facilitated panel discussion with professionals who work with volunteers using three different models. Sandi Firsel, WRJ Midwest District Board Member is an expert on the sisterhood model of volunteerism.  Lois Bruno is the Office Administrator at Beth Hillel Temple and a member of Willow Creek Church which was founded by volunteers. Serane Blatt, FTA, is the Executive Director of North Shore Congregation Israel. We learned of trends and issues in volunteer management and gained valuable insight into working with and engaging volunteers. Below you will find the notes and handouts distributed at the meeting.
