Every congregation is encouraged to reflect on the journey we've taken as a Reform Jewish community in North America and reach out to developing communities of Progressive Judaism around the worldthose communities that are just beginning their journey and those that would benefit from our support as they continue to grow.

The Union is asking every Reform congregation in North America to demonstrate its commitment to Reform Judaism by adopting a project in a growing Progressive Jewish community in Israel or the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. The projects, which include sponsoring Reform rabbis in Israel, building Progressive synagogues in Israel, and bolstering Progressive Jewish leadership in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, will strengthen Reform Jewish life in these communities today and for the future.
Making a commitment to a project involves asking each member of your congregation to contribute $18/year and establishing an ongoing, reciprocal relationship with the community your congregation chooses to support. Congregation-wide study about world Reform Jewry and the North American Jewish communitys responsibility to support growing Reform Jewish congregations abroad is also an essential element of the Hineini program. Fund-raising tools, educational materials for youth and adults, as well as innovative ways to keep in touch with the project communities are available on this website.
Through this project, every Reform congregation in North America will become a catalyst for the growth of Progressive Judaism all across the globe and, at the same time, strengthen our relationships with Progressive Jews throughout the world. The Hineini project represents an opportunity for Progressive Jews everywhere to affirm our shared identity and Jewish vision and ensure the continued strength of our communities.
