Bio
Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso is one of the Senior Rabbis of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck in Indianapolis where she has served since 1977. She is an internationally known children’s author who has published eleven children’s books, her first being God's Paintbrush, and one book for adults, God’s Echo – Exploring Scripture with Midrash. There are over 400, 000 copies of her books in print.
Rabbi Sasso has written numerous articles and chapters on the spirituality of children and spoken across the country on the subject. She was the keynote speaker at the first International Conference on the Spiritual Life of Children in West Sussex, England. She continues to be a sought after speaker in both Jewish and Christian settings, addressing major religious conferences such as the Religious Booksellers Trade Exhibit in Chicago in 2000 and 2007 and was a keynote speaker at the Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly conference in Salt Lake City in the summer of 2009.
Rabbi Sasso received her B.A. Magna Cum Laude and M.A. from Temple University. She was ordained from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1974 and received her Doctor of Divinity after 25 years in the rabbinate. She is the recipient of a Doctorate of Ministry from Christian Theological Seminary, an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from DePauw University, an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Butler University, an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Franklin College.
