How to Expand Your Active Volunteer and Leadership Core
Watch this one-hour recorded webinar to learn ways to increase the "active core" of our congregations and to understand warning signs of dis-engagement.
Learn how to involve more individuals and families especially those who are waiting to be asked to get involved. Just like the fourth child from our Pesach seder sh'ayno yodeah lish'ol, there are members of our congregations who do not know how to ask to get involved. This webinar will guide you through a process of how to get to know, motivate, recruit and involve your members.
"The task is too heavy for you: You cannot do it alone." Exodus 18:18.
Whether we are small or large, how do we create a congregational community and environment in which everyone wants to be involved and engaged? Often times our congregations are fueled by a small core of active members who are our leaders, volunteers and participants over and over again our "go-to" people. While it is necessary to have this active core, it is also crucial to find ways to expand the core.
Our presenters are Debbie Joseph, Kathy Kahn, Susie Amster and Karen Hoffman. Kathy is a URJ Membership Specialist who also has experience and expertise in Outreach. Kathy has been at the Union since 1989 and served as the national Director of the Department of Outreach and Membership since 2003. Debbie is a URJ Governance and Leadership Specialist and works with congregations on volunteer engagement. Susie Amster is the Executive Director of Temple Beth Sholom in Orange County, California and Karen Hoffman is Program Director of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, Texas and Vice President of Program Directors of Reform Judaism.
