Todah rabbah to those of you who sent your suggestions for upcoming dialogues to pursue. As you might imagine we are working diligently to provide you with interesting and timely discussions. We are at a crossroads and have decided to postpone the next edition of Eilu Veilu until April. We look forward to being responsive to your suggestions and make Eilu Veilu a co-creation of the URJ and the readers of Eilu Veilu. To that end, below are several suggestions that have come from our readers. We would like to hear from you which ones you are most interested in our taking up in the months ahead.
Is there a future for denominational Judaism?
Are there or should there be standards for Reform Jews?
What is Reform Jewish worship? Is there still a place for Classical Reform prayer?
Should non-Jewish spouses who are members of the congregation be allowed to serve as officers of the congregation?
What is/should be the role of the rabbi in our congregation today?
Same sex marriage
Day School vs. Public School education
What should we do about the decline in synagogue affiliation?
The Jewish community is more divided than united. How can the Jewish community come together, acknowledge on another and work together to better the world?
Please rank these 1 -9 (or 1 -10 if you would like to add an idea to the list) 1 being the most interesting to you and 9/10 the least. The polls will be open through Thursday, March 19th. Once we hear from you we will look at your thoughts and begin to find authors for the particular topics. Please send your response to Eilu@urj.org. We look forward to bringing some of these topics with two voices to you in the near future.
