Kitty Wolf
I am Kitty Wolf, the URJ Mid-Atlantic Council’s Regional Educator. Below is information about services available from the Union for Reform Judaism Department of Lifelong Jewish Learning that I can help you bring in to your congregation’s Religious School. I really enjoy my work and all of the wonderful educators I have been in contact with in this region and look forward to working with more of you. If you would like to know more about me, please read my bio.
The Mission of the Department of Lifelong Jewish Learning is to support and improve our congregations' Jewish education programs by providing educators and teachers with helpful resources. Here are just a few of them:
· The CHAI Curriculum and Mitkadem Hebrew Program, developed by the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) for congregational schools, are being used successfully in a growing number of congregations. If you are not using CHAI, and would like to know more about it, I will be happy to consult with you and/or provide a workshop for your congregation on the curriculum and how you can fit it into your school program.
· The URJ Department of Lifelong Jewish Learning Regional Educators Network worked together to develop a series of teacher training workshops for our affiliated congregations. The topics include: Assessment in Jewish Education; Behavior Management; Involving Parents in Jewish Education; Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences; Lesson Design; Questioning Skills; and Reform Judaism For Teachers. I am available to come to your area and provide these and other training programs for your educational staff.
· URJ Department of Lifelong Jewish Learning has developed five electronic courses for teachers and teaching assistants.
· Sacred Choices: Adolescent Relationships and Sexual Ethicsis a comprehensive curriculum designed for congregations and camps to use to teach sexual ethics to teens. The Middle School Module is available now.It consists of 5 lessons for adolescents in grades 6-8 and 3 lessons for parents. The curriculum comes with a Congregational Implementation Guide.
As your Regional Educator, I would be delighted to talk with you about these and other resources and to offer any help I can to your educational programs. Please contact me if your congregation would be interested in any of the above topics, any other type of training or if there is anything I can do for your congregation. My email is kwolf@urj.org and my telephone number is 757-397-6730.
