URJ-MAC sent a check in the amount of $864.36 to MAZON. That donation represents 3% of the food bill spent at the Regional Biennial and the Fall 2008 Regional Council Meeting.

Israeli Environmental Educator-in-Residence  

The Mid-Atlantic Council (MAC) is pleased to announce that Alex Cicelsky, a founding member of Kibbutz Lotan, MAC Biennial during the 2008 MAC Regional Biennial. Mr. Cicelsky will be available for one-on-one consultation for information about Kibbutz Lotan as well as co-presenting with Kevin Kleinman at the “Key Environmental Issues in Israel” learnshop on Saturday October 25 at 7:45pm.

Alex Cicelsky

Alex Cicelsky grew up in New York State. He is a graduate of the Hebrew University Faculty of Agriculture with a degree in Soil and Water Sciences and Environmental Quality in Agriculture. Currently, Mr. Cicelsky is working on a MS at Ben Gurion University on Energy Efficient Design of Buildings in the Arava Desert.

Alex is a founding member of Kibbutz Lotan and wore many hats including that of a tractor mechanic and dairy farmer. For ten years, he has worked extensively on researching and developing facilities and educational programs for the Kibbutz’s Center for Creative Ecology. Creating Jewish art, music and spiritual moments with community is an integral part his life.

HUC Scholar-In-Residence - Dr. Carol Ochs
Director of the Graduate School and Adjunct Full Professor of Jewish Religious Thought at HUC-JIR, New York

Dr Ochs' research, writing, and teaching fall into three categories: (1) Jewish spirituality, (2) comparative religion, and (3) Jewish feminism. In addition to teaching spiritual guidance, she serves as spiritual guide to Rabbinic, cantorial, and Doctor of Ministry students.
