The Union for Reform Judaism - the congregational arm of the Reform Movement in North America - helps to create and sustain vibrant Reform Jewish congregations wherever Reform Jews live. The Northeast Lakes Council serves Reform congregations in Eastern Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Western New York and Western Pennsylvania.
The synagogue is at the very center of Jewish life, transforming individual members into caring committed Jews, inspiring them to live Jewish lives. The synagogue is the door through which our members encounter a larger entity, K'lal Yisrael, the people of Israel.
The Union provides leadership, vision and support to Reform congregations on spiritual, ethical, educational and political issues. The Union also provides opportunities for individual growth and identity which congregations and individuals cannot provide by themselves: Camps and Israel programs, study Kallot, and national and regional Biennials.
