Taste of Judaism: Are You Curious? is a free, widely advertised 3-week course on Jewish Spirituality, Jewish Ethics and Jewish Community designed for unaffiliated Jews, non-Jews, intermarried couples and all searching for an entry into Jewish life. If your congregation meets the ALL of the following criteria, we encourage you to apply for a grant to host and teach this course:

Your congregation would like to participate as a site during Fall/Winter of 2009/2010 or Spring 2010 for "A Taste of Judaism: Are You Curious?"  and

Your congregation is the only Reform congregation in your geographic area or city** and

You have an excellent teacher and a warm and well-organized volunteer or staff person for program administration and follow-up.

If your congregation meets these three conditions, please download an application form and return it by May 15, 2009, to:

About the Taste Grant
A limited amount of funding is available during the 2009-2010 fiscal year.  Those congregations that are selected as program sites will receive full funding from the Union for advertising and honoraria for teachers in return for certain grant requirements and responsibilities.  Congregations will be expected to cover phone, postage, copying, and administrative costs, as well as resources for participant follow-up.  Congregations will also be required to submit student evaluations and report statistical data on participants. 

Please remember that if your synagogue was awarded a grant to host Taste within the last three years you are ineligible for a grant.

Help Your Outreach Program Grow!
The National Center to Encourage Judaism will pay half of the cost-up to $1200- for advertisements for programs of invitation to Judaism including Introduction to Judaism, A Taste of Judaism, or similar classes. The ad must appear in the secular media in 2008/2009. The NCEJ will continue to accept applications for 2 programs yearly in separate calendar quarters. Click here to download the application *.
