Supported by a grant from MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger
The need for food and other daily necessities was overwhelming. And so, as Reform Jews, we had no choice but to respond and help. Together we collected and distributed more than 3,000,000+ pounds of relief supplies. More than 100 volunteers helped to sort and distribute the supplies we collected from the more than 100 Congregations who participated.
Thank you for helping to make the Union for Reform Judaism's Jacobs' Ladder project an overwhelming success. Your help was instrumental in making Jacobs' Ladder a success whether it was as a a volunteer in Utica, or you helped coordinate a collection at your congregation or you simply made a donation of relief supplies to a collection in your area. The Jacobs' Ladder warehouse is now closed and we are no longer accepting donations. If you are looking to make an individual donation, or your congregation has a collection of donations to distribute, please contact your local Jewish Federation and/or Jewish Family Service to determine if there are local evacuees in your community who need assistance.

About Jacobs' Ladder
Jacobs' Ladder: A Relief Project of the Union for Reform Judaism, was a vital part of the Union for Reform Judaism's Response to Hurricane Katrina. Reform Jews across North America are collecting food and supplies and shipping them to the Union’s Henry S. Jacobs Camp in Utica, MS.
Working in partnership with the town of Utica, the Union and Jacobs Camp operated a staging and distribution center for relief supplies from a warehouse provided by the city. The center collected supplies and distributed them through a number of local and regional ministries and relief centers that serve the greater Jackson community, the population of which doubled with displaced families following the storm.
