It's easy for non-technical users to create and update content. A temple webmaster does not need to know HTML. Only basic computer skills are necessary (i.e. cut and paste). The Union provides all of the necessary documentation on-line, as well as an RJ Web-builder discussion list, tech support, and a user manual.
Webmasters can create multiple users with different logins and different permissions. How can one webmaster keep up with the demand to update different parts of one temple's website? RJ Web-builder makes this easy, by allowing webmasters to delegate site updates to others. Say, for example, that the Sisterhood leader in your congregation wishes to update her own pages. The webmaster can assign her a unique login and password, and allow her permission to update only the Sisterhood pages. The same can be done for the Rabbi, President, Educator, etc. One person can be assigned the task of entering events into the calendar. The webmaster can assign as many users as needed, and can decide whether submitted content needs to be approved by the webmaster first before going live.
The calendar feature can be used in different formats throughout the site. In addition to your main calendar page, listing all events, you can put a listing of "upcoming events" on the home page that automatically draws events from the calendar, or a "schedule of services" on your worship page, that draws only that information from the calendar. You can create events that include pertinent information such as contact phone numbers and e-mail addresses, links to other websites, and links to other dates and documents on your site.
The calendar shows Hebrew dates and Jewish holidays automatically.
