Union for Reform Judaism / Southeast Council

SOUTHEAST COUNCIL

Congregations and Regional Councils in this region are now supported by the South Congregational Support Center

Although our Regional offices have closed, the lay Regional Councils continue to play a critical role in our Movement through providing leadership and vision for their congregations and for the Union as a whole. In our new structure, the Regional Councils and their important work and connection to congregations will be supported in three ways:

  1. Lay Leader Liaisons
A full-time Lay Leader Liaison is now part of the staff in each District Congregational Support Center. The Liaison's primary focus is to support Union lay leadership and Regional Councils through providing program assistance, training and resources. Through a strong collaborative partnership with regional lay leadership, the Lay Leader Liaisons will help to ensure that the important work of our Regional Councils will continue to move forward and grow and in new directions.

  2. Congregational Representatives
Every congregation in our Movement will now have it's own contact with the Union through our Congregational Representatives in each District Congregational Support Center. Through proactively providing resources and assistance and responding to congregational requests for help and information, Representatives will provide the navigation help that congregations have asked for so that what congregations need and want is what they receive from the Union. They will work in partnership with Regional Councils on reaching out to congregations and ensuring that the Councils have the important information they need to continue to work effectively.

  3. Leadership Development and Training
Through the department of Leadership Development and Training, Regional Councils will receive more training and support for engaging in new roles in their regions as well as their existing areas of work and programming. These may include increased engagement in MUM, working on resource development and fundraising, partnering with the Congregational Representatives on new or existing Ambassador/Bridge Builder programs and increasing their roles as representatives of the Union for congregations' important events and lifecycle moments.
