Observation Trip to Dadaab, Kenya

Four years ago on Sukkot, the Reform Movement joined Nothing But Nets to combat the spread of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa. Today, Nothing But Nets is launching a special campaign to provide life-saving bed nets to refugees affected by a widespread drought, living in the Horn of Africa. Temple Beth-El Shooting Contest Raised $423 Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough, New Jersey hosted a basketball shooting contest this past April. Despite the cold and rainy day, the program was moved indoors and proved wildly successful. They raised $423. Everyone in the community had a great time shooting hoops, eating in the café and raising money and awareness for this important campaign.
Rabbi's Water Fast Raised $100 Rabbi Elliot Holin of Congregation Kol Ami in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania sets aside one day a month for a 24-hour fast in support of pressing societal issues. This August, funds were collected to support rescue efforts for Nothing But Nets. His 24-hour water fast for Darfur and Nothing But Nets raised $100.
Shoot-Out with Temple Beth-El Temple Beth-El in South Bend, Indiana is a congregation of 230 families. Its 8th grade religious school class just completed a unit on social justice and with the help of a mini-grant from URJ, the class of six students assembled 2 mini-basketball hoops and sold chances to throw baskets and enter a drawing to win an Ipod and gift certificates. The entire Religious School (about 60 children) came down to the lobby area to shoot baskets. Donations were also collected from the Temple Board Retreat and from the Brotherhood Brunch meeting. In total, $1,500 was raised with just days worth of fundraising and fun!
Project Runway: Malaria Awareness In fashion, you're either in or out. This special URJ Kutz Camp version of Project Runway challenged "designers" to find fashionable ways to prevent the spread of malaria with Nothing But Nets.
Sisterhood Passover Her Seder Temple Emanuel Sisterhood of Cherry Hill, NJ By including the Nothing But Nets: The Modern Plagues handout and informational materials during the Sisterhoods Her Seder, $1,036 was raised from the 120 women in attendance.
