Working in collaboration with Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, MS, the URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp and the NFTY Mitzvah Corps of the South, the Jackson Jewish Welfare Fund will hire a volunteer coordinator to assist individuals, congregations and other groups who wish to volunteer in the area. The URJ will be bringing dozens of volunteers to the area over the spring and summer for NFTY and Adult Mitzvah Corps and for a Kesher sponsored Alternative Spring Break. Additionally, the Jackson, MS community anticipates many congregations will be interested in doing volunteer work based out of Jackson, which has absorbed a large number of New Orleans evacuees. The URJ's funding for this position was matched by the local community.
