Volunteer Opportunities

Many individuals and families choose to spend their vacation time engaged in service learning programs and pursuing volunteer efforts.  There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for youth and adults through the Reform Movement. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities of a least a week in length.

  • Teen Mitzvah CorpsSocial action, friends, expanded horizons, and fun are all part of the Mitzvah Corps experience!  Mitzvah Corps combines direct hands-on involvement in communities that need energy, dedication and love that YOU can provide, with learning focused on Jewish social and ethical issues. For summer 2009, we are pleased to offer the following Mitzvah Corps locations: Costa Rica, Israel, New Jersey, New Orleans, New York City, San Francisco and URJ Kutz Camp. Mitzvah Corps programs are open for high school students entering 10-12th grade. With Mitzvah Corps, Jewish teens experience social action at its best. For more information, contact Miriam Fink at or 212-650-4071.

  • Gulf Coast Volunteer Opportunities: Resources to help organize volunteer trips: sample itineraries, educational materials and stories from the field and more.
  • Jewish Coalition for Service: This organization’s website lists many wonderful service learning programs available within the Jewish community for all ages.

  • American Jewish World Service: AJWS provides international volunteer opportunities, including the AJWS Volunteer Corps for professionals, alternative spring and summer breaks, study tours and other opportunities.
