K'hilat Tzedek: Creating a Community of Justice

Simon the Just taught, “The world is sustained by three things: by the Torah, by avodah, and by gemilut chasadim.” Pirkei Avot 1:2

The K’hilat Tzedek: Creating a Community of Justice Guide assists congregations in deepening the role that social justice plays in their community. Using this three-part discussion format, this guide hopes to inspire discussions that will result in positive growth for the synagogue and renewed energy in the area of social justice.

Potential outcomes include the strengthening of connections between various synagogue committees, temple affiliates (youth group, sisterhood, etc.) and the Social Action Committee, deepening the concentration on social justice in the school curricula, broader synagogue involvement in social action programming, and a renewed congregational commitment to social justice.
