Financial Leaders Training Course

The URJ will be offering a series of online financial training courses for congregational leaders, to broaden their understanding of synagogue finances.

The Congregational Finances 101 Course will be available in spring 2017. This course will be open to congregational leaders with little to no financial background, who are interested in learning the basics of congregational finances. Topics will include Excel for beginners, basics of budgeting, understanding balance sheets, accounts payable and receivable, and more. The course will include recorded presentations, resources, assignments and live office hours. This learning opportunity will be particularly applicable to lay leaders who have limited financial training and who serve as the Vice President of Finance, treasurer or financial secretary of their congregation. It will also be relevant to new and existing congregational board members with limited knowledge of finances, who want to gain a basic understanding of finances in order to better participate in board budgeting discussions.

Two additional courses will be available throughout 2017 and 2018 for leaders seeking more advanced training in congregational finances.

To be notified when this opportunity becomes available, please fill out our expression of interest form.
