NFTY in Israel

On Adam’s NFTY trip Prague, Poland and Israel, he grew up faster than he could have ever imagined. Beginning the trip at Auschwitz, he was struck by great anger and sadness, but after spending Shabbat in Jerusalem, he discovered a newfound confidence and resolve in his Jewish identity.  Read more »

Two things specifically caught Rabbi Michael Mirnholz's attention while working with campers at the garden at Camp Coleman. He noticed that campers were investing their energy in Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), while also recognizing the amount of labor and resources it takes to enjoy the fruitfulness of the garden. Read more »

URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy

In the Robotics Workshop at URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy, campers were asked to put their robot programming skills to the test by creating a Rube Goldberg Machine, a complicated machine that creates a simple task. After 20 takes, they easily could have given up at any moment, but the campers persevered until they proudly reached their goal.Read more »

Mitzvah Corps

During their time with the Mitzvah Corps in Israel, Sarah and Reid were expecting to volunteer at a preservation site, but were instead placed at the Ofakim School, a school dedicated to children with special needs. Needless to say, stepping outside of their comfort zones proved to be one of the best things they could have done.     Read more »

NFTY in Israel

After four days in the Negev following an Israel NFTY trip, madrich (counselor) Jesse, posed a question he usually asks his campers to himself: “Why am I here, when I could be anywhere else?” He concluded it’s not just our rich history that draws Jews to the desert, but also the desert’s “mystical” ability to dispel our personal barriers and forge together the soul of the community. Read more »
