Are you looking to create a welcoming and safe community for LGBTQ individuals and families?
The URJ is excited to offer the Audacious Hospitality LGBTQ Online Learning Series and registration is now open! This six-session online learning series will run bi-weekly from June 20th - August 28th. We will offer live sessions, pre-session reading materials, and post-session action steps for your community. The series This program will be led by Audacious Hospitality’s Program Manager, Cantor Shira Stanford-Asiyo, and based off of the newly released Audacious Hospitality LGBTQ Inclusion Resource Module.
The Online Learning Series will consist of six, 90-minute live sessions. We strongly encourage that you attend all sessions. Please see full list of dates and session topics below.
- June 20, 2018, 8-9:30 PM (ET) - Creating Respect Through Inclusive Language - This session will discuss how to incorporate LGBTQ inclusive language into your congregational life.
- July 5, 2018, 8-9:30 PM (ET) - Inclusive Forms and Spaces - This session will discuss how to adapt your registration, membership and other forms to be welcoming to LGBTQ individuals and families, as well as ways to adapt our physical spaces.
- July 17, 2018, 8-9:30 PM (ET) - How to Talk to Your Board - This session will discuss board leadership development and investing the board in creating greater inclusivity.
- July 30, 2018, 8-9:30 PM (ET) - Inclusion Through the Lens of Jewish Text - This session will look at Jewish text studies and educational resources that provide a Jewish lens for the work of LGBTQ inclusion.
- August 13, 2018, 8-9:30 PM (ET) - Community Connections and Celebrations - Learn how to build bridges to the local and national LGBTQ community, as well as how to provide more resources and support in this work. Learn about how to connect to Pride celebrations, Trans Day of Remembrance, Coming Out Day and how to include LGBTQ friendly rituals in your community.
- August 28, 2018, 8-9:30 PM (ET) - Take Action - Hear about the work of the Religious Action Center on LGBTQ Rights and how to mobilize your community to take action.
