Audience Engagement and Marketing Operations Manager

Overview and Purpose  

The newly created Audience Engagement team, which sits within URJ’s central Marketing & Communications department, seeks someone passionate about engaging various audiences through marketing and communicating activities about Reform Jewish life and the various institutions and programs that make up the Reform Movement.   

This position will serve as the leader of this team and partner with the leaders of the other core Marketing & Communications teams: Messaging & Branding, Publicity & Public Relations, and Creative, Design & Production, to develop and oversee the execution of URJ’s Marketing & Communications strategy, initiatives, and content.

The Marketing and Communications team is responsible for programmatic, online fundraising, and online advocacy marketing. In addition, the team leads the press relations, online presence, social media, design, and branding and messaging of the URJ across multiple audiences and continually broadens the potential reach of the organization.  

What You’ll Do  

As part of the senior Marketing & Communications team, the Audience Engagement Manager will:  

· Bring priorities and recommendations to Marketing & Communications leadership team to determine and guide the organization with focus on audience engagement opportunities   

· Develop, evolve and manage URJ’s brand that is considerate of and integrates URJ’s multiple brands to build overall visibility and reputation of URJ to engage diverse audiences  

· Develop and implement an audience engagement strategy built upon URJ’s overarching narrative and messages and includes multiple platforms and channels for its targeted programs and audiences  

Essential Functions  

The Audience Engagement Manager will be responsible for:  

· Ensuring the audience engagement team is aligned with the priorities of the Marketing & Communication team and that work fits within the strategic direction of the organization  

· Designing clear ladders of engagement and associates activities and objectives to engage various audiences of the URJ; identifying metrics and target goals to measure the success of “ladders”, strategies, programs and tools and determining ways to course-correct if targets are unmet  

· Integrating, prioritizing, and ensuring execution of the marketing strategies and plans across URJ around the following:  

o online development to increase the number of donors and amount of money raised  

o recruitment (i.e. filling slots) for events and programs (primarily camps and youth programs but also leadership training events, including Biennial)  

o online advocacy to mobilize and organize individuals and congregations around priority issues using tools; leveraging social justice as the on-ramp to engagement; target next-gen and young adults  

· Leading the development and implementation of email marketing, social media, online advocacy, online fundraising, and search engine marketing technology platforms as tools to increase engagement with various audiences, including partnering with URJ departments (e.g. IT) to build effective and efficient technology tools and processes for the highest utility of all platforms  

· Developing the strategy and approach for social media as a marketing and communications tool, utilizing its paid, re-marketing, and earned social media and search advertising capabilities  

· Ensuring consistent and frequent evaluation of strategy and tools based on market research, including segmentation and market analysis with regular analytics reports across properties and channels  

· Overseeing the development and execution of the URJ’s communications calendar to ensure alignment and consistency in messages across audiences   

· Recruiting and supervising key members of the Audience Engagement team; ensuring a healthy team culture   

You Have  

· Minimum of 5-7 years in marketing for a non-profit or mission-driven organization  

· Experience in a strategic leadership role with at least 3 years of supervisory experience   

· Experience in implementing marketing platforms including social media, online fundraising, online advocacy, email marketing, and paid ads   

· Knowledge and proven experience in translating marketing analytics into focused and data-driven marketing strategies  

· Experience and ability to translate organizational priorities and vision into audience engagement strategies   

· Deep understanding of URJ’s mission and values
