Progressive Judaism on the Internet: ReformJudaism.org Exceeds Two Million Visitors in 2014

The audience for the new site has continually grown as users seek information about Jewish life, practice, learning, and social justice from a modern Jewish perspective.

January 26, 2015, New York, NY - More than two million visitors have browsed the Union for Reform Judaism's (URJ) flagship website, ReformJudaism.org since its launch in March 2013. The audience for the new site has continually grown as users seek information about Jewish life, practice, learning, and social justice from a modern Jewish perspective. ReformJudaism.org offers "how-to" videos, recipes, Torah commentaries, blessings, articles on parenting, Jewish practice and rituals, and a highly-trafficked blog with timely and insightful content.

"The fact that the most popular sections are about holidays and the weekly Torah portion demonstrates that there is an obvious thirst for knowledge among those who wish to learn more about Jewish life, learning, and tradition through a progressive lens," said URJ President Rabbi Rick Jacobs, "As we encourage congregations to show 'audacious hospitality' to those seeking religious, cultural, spiritual and communal experiences, ReformJudaism.org offers that same welcoming spirit to those searching on the web."

"The majority of visitors arrive from search engines, which tells us there are a great number of people out there looking for ways to enrich their lives with Jewish content and we want to be sure there is a source that provides that type of information in a modern framework," added URJ Chief Program Officer Mark Pelavin. "The incredible speed at which the site has grown shows that people are hungry for Jewish information from a progressive, egalitarian perspective that simply didn't exist in a comprehensive way beforeReformJudaism.org."

The URJ is continually improving and expanding the site's offerings and functionality. Plans for 2015 include a new college life and Jewish camping sections, more social justice and Israel content, and the addition of the full translated text of the Torah available directly on the site.
