What do Reform congregations across North America have in common – whether they’re large or small, in cities or in rural areas, across the map?

They all experience change as the new constant.

An upcoming event will offer congregations across the continent the unique opportunity to learn together about embracing change – no matter where they’re located.

On October 29th, “How Successful Congregations Embrace Change: A URJ Day of Learning” will take place simultaneously in multiple locations across four time zones. Each location will be hosted by a URJ Community lay leadership team, with the help of URJ staff, and will run the exact same program, enabling congregational leaders throughout the Reform Movement to learn about the changing landscape of our world and its implication on Jewish life.

This day of learning will also offer participants a taste of the URJ Biennial by including an interview with award-winning author and Biennial presenter Anita Diamant, who will be with us in person at our Boston-area event location. Her new book, The Jewish Wedding Now, will serve as a springboard for conversation, using the lens of Jewish lifecycle ritual to consider congregational change in the 21st century.

No matter which location you attend, you’ll watch the live interview with Anita Diamant and have the opportunity to reflect on what you learn, to discuss the changing needs of congregational institutions with other leaders, and to begin identifying changes your congregation needs to make in order to be successful 21st-century institution.

Want to further your learning on this topic? We’ll be offering a special learning session at the URJ Biennial in which participants will work on next steps.

Whether you’re a lay leader, a member of the clergy, or a Jewish professional, a seasoned congregational leader or an emerging one, we encourage you to attend this day of learning with your congregational leadership team.

To attend “How Successful Congregations Embrace Change: A URJ Day of Learning” at any of the locations below, register through October 26th. Attendance is $10 per person.

Locations include:

If your congregation isn’t within a reasonable travel distance to any of our host sites, consider hosting this event for your congregation

For those who cannot attend a location and would like to watch the livestream of the Anita Diamant interview 3:30pm ET you can do so by clicking Anita Diamant Interview Livestream

We hope to see you at one of our many locations on October 29th!
