Business Analyst

Overview and purpose:  

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) is in search of a forward-thinking, experienced Business Analyst. This individual will act as the link between our technological capacities and our business objectives.  Our Business Analysts wear many hats on their projects and are responsible for assessing business process needs, identifying technical solutions that address business process needs, managing the creation, testing, and deployment of technical solutions, and training and supporting end users.

What you’ll do as our Business Analyst:  

Technical Business Analysis 

  • Partner with departments and teams to identify and analyze opportunities to improve business outcomes using innovative technology solutions 
  • Document, review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs. Write detailed descriptions of functional and technical business requirements
  • Translate operational needs into data collection and reporting needs that can be handled in Salesforce. 
  • Develop metrics, reports, and dashboards in order to transform data into actionable information.
  • Work with management to identify new and creative opportunities to leverage the CRM to inform decision-making and improve business processes
  • Manage, coordinate, and evaluate the efforts of external partners engaged who support the implementation of technology initiatives
  • Develop training plans and materials for end-users
  • Support an existing portfolio of tools through small enhancements and bug fixes


Project Management 

  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements 
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities to in-house and 3rd party developers 
  • Use the technical experience as well as problem-solving skills to asses and resolve project-related obstacles
  • Plan and support processes around testing and user acceptance 


Qualifications and experience:  

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • 3 years of relevant experience in business analysis and project management 
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a not-for-profit organization, or serving not-for-profit organizations, preferred
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM products to develop client or business solutions in a nonprofit setting; experience with Salesforce’s Nonprofit Success Pack a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and procedures
  • Experience working with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical
  • Proven ability to leverage analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Drive and desire to learn and grow both technical and functional skill sets
  • Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and understand their needs through excellent listening and communication
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team
