The 2017 Had'rachah Seminar for Lay Leadership in Ritual Life will take place at the URJ's Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) on August 2-6th, 2017. The Had'rachah Seminar for Lay Leadership in Ritual Life is open only to congregational leaders from small congregations with no more than one full-time clergy member.

To accommodate growing interest and to serve more congregations, in 2017 we will be offering two opportunities to attend the Scheidt Seminar: The second seminar will take place on April 20-23, 2017 in Peachtree City, GA. An earlier seminar was offered in February in San Diego, CA.

Registration will open in October 2016.

This session will use the Mussar to provide guidance in achieving success in congregational life by instilling Jewish values in leaders' characters and practice. It will be presented by Alan Morinis, the Founder and Dean of the Mussar Institute. It will take place on January 17th, 8pm ET.

Tuesday, January 17, 2017 - 8:00pm to 9:00pm

Using biblical texts, this session will analyze situations in which past leaders said "yes" and "no" to leadership callings and will assist leaders in making strategic decisions regarding what they consent to take on. It will be presented by Dr. Erica Brown, associate professor at George Washington University and Director of its Mayberg Center for Jewish Education and Leadership, who is also the Community Scholar for The Jewish Center in Manhattan. It will take place on November 30th, 8pm ET.

Wednesday, November 30, 2016 - 8:00pm to 9:00pm

This session will explore four principles that guide leaders to make choices that align with their values. It will be presented by Harry Kraemer, the former chairman and CEO of Baxter International and a Kellogg School of Management Clinical Professor of Strategy. It will take place on September 15th, 8pm ET.
