WHEREAS intermarriage is of concern not only to the rabbinate but to the men, women, and youth of our movement, as parents and as leaders of the synagogue; and

WHEREAS the Central Conference of American Rabbis is now conducting a study of this problem;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we welcome the plans of the CCAR Committee on Intermarriage to consult concerned laymen in our movement, as well as people in various disciplines and of varying convictions, on this issue; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT we propose a conference jointly sponsored by the CCAR and the UAHC to explore through in-depth studies the dimensions of the problem and to seek ways of strengthening Jewish marriage and fostering commitment to the preservation of the Jewish family.
