The Board of Trustees of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, at its meeting in Los Angeles, sends its warm wishes for health, fulfillment, and happiness to President Gerald R. Ford and his family.
Precipitated into the presidency at a time of trauma, President Ford brought unity to the American people and honor to the presidency and restored a sense of pride in America and its institutions.
We especially express our deep appreciation for President Ford's continuing commitment to the security and welfare of Israel and his sensitivity to the concerns of the Jewish people.
As his term concludes, we join with other fellow Americans of all political persuasions in saluting the gallantry and decency with which the president served the country during these critical years.
